The 3B Scientific K11 human kidney model series is enlarged for anatomical study of kidney structures. The K11 consists of three models for effective demonstration: the longitudinal section of the right kidney (3X life size); a kidney nephron depicting a section through the renal cortex and medulla, including the renal corpuscles with proximal and distal convoluted tubules, loops of Henle, collecting tubules and blood vessels (120X life size); and an open Malpighian corpuscle with glomerulus and Bowman's capsule (700X life size). The models are mounted on a baseboard for display, and are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic, which is corrosion resistant, lightweight, and has high strength. PVC resists reactions with acids, gasoline, alcohol, and hydrocarbons. Anatomical models are typically used as educational aids in medical and scientific classrooms and office settings.
The model measures 11.4 x 20.5 x 3.5 inches/29.0 x 52.0 x 9.0cm (H x W x D). (H is the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is the horizontal distance from left to right; D is the horizontal distance from front to back.)
